Snow Day!

We are having a pretty good snow storm tonight. Before it ends we are supposed to have up to 10 inches of snow. Brittany is already asking about going out and playing in it. I don't think they will have school tomorrow. I have been trying to implement a rule of more than one inch of snow on a Friday and work should be called off, but I am not having much luck. Looks like I will have to go to work. At least if Brandon doesn't have school I can have him shovel the drive in the morning.

100th Day of School

Today was Brandon's 100th day of school (I guess Brittany's will be in two days since she started after him)! I can't believe it has been that many. It seems like yesterday that we were walking back from the bus stop fighting back the tears after sending him off to school on his first day. He loves school so much and is excited every day to learn more things. I guess he only has about 3300 - 3700 more days to go!

On another note, the weather has been crazy today. At 1:00, it was 63 degrees and a little rain. By 4:00, it was 23 degrees and it was sleeting/snowing. It is currently 12 degrees with a -21 wind chill factor (29 mph wind). [Note I have added a current weather conditions on the right side of the blog.] Brandon was supposed to have a baseball clinic in the gym of his school tonight but it was cancelled due to the weather. We can't wait until it's Spring!!

Karate Kids

With the start of the new year, Brittany joined Brandon in taking Karate. They both really enjoy the class that they are taking with one of their friends, Mason. The class teaches some basic self-defense and stranger awareness too. Of course they like being referred to as the "King (and Queen) of Karate*".

* SpongeBob SquarePants Season 4, Episode 71b reference. (Yes, I am a geek.)

Christmas No. 2, 3, and 4 (Sorry, just a little late)

We made the trek to Southern Illinois the weekend after Christmas to see our families. It was a quick trip (headed down on Saturday morning and back up on Sunday afternoon), but was enjoyable. The kids went from house to house opening gifts. Needless to say, they had a great weekend. Click here to see more pictures from the Southern Illinois Christmas.

Boxing Ballerina

We joined the Wii Generation after Christmas. Angie was at Wal-Mart late one evening and they were getting in a shipment so she stood in line to get one at midnight. I wasn't that keen on the idea to begin with but I must admit it is really cool. It was able identify my home network and link up to the internet to give weather forecasts and current news also.

Brittany (once again playing dress-up in one of her ballet outfits) started trying the boxing and loved it. Right now I am trailing the rest of the family on that game, but can hold my own on the others. If my scores don't start improving though, I foresee some sick days in my future!
